The Canadian War Museum’s World War Women exhibit went out with a bang Sunday.

The exhibit, which ran from October 23 to April 3 ended with a two day “human library.” Canadian women shared stories from battlefronts and homefronts all over the globe.

Participants were invited to sit with the women and speak with them for 20 minutes. They were able to borrow two ‘books’ a day at the free event.

Participants ranged from Vietnamese refugee and CBC journalist Judy Trinh, to Rwandan genocide survivor Alphonsine N. Mynyampundu.

Sgt. Stacey Williamson spoke about balancing career and family. It was her first time participating in a human library.

“It’s quite an experience,” said Williamson. “We have lots of people that are here interested in what we have to say, but most importantly there is a lot of wonderful people of experience that are open to share their experience and just share their life. It’s been wonderful on both sides.“
